Breaking Bread with Whiti Hereaka
23 February 2012 - From 7.30 pm, talk at 8.15 pm
The Devonport Library Associates warmly invite you to an evening with Whiti Hereaka, prize-winning scriptwriter, dramatist, and successful novelist. Whiti will talk about her views on the craft of writing scripts and plays. Whiti is the current writer-in-residence at the Michael King Writers' Centre. She holds the eight-week Summer Residency. She is hard at work on her next play, which is about about making rewena. In the play she plans to explore the idea of hospitality, of Maori and Pakeha “breaking bread” and how breadmaking is a part of colonial history that has been embraced by Maoridom.
This is a free event and all are welcome
Drinks and nibbles at 7.30pm.
