Local Writer Sacha Jones is set to launch her memoir 'The Grass Was Always Browner' at Devonport Library, Tuesday 3 May at 6.30pm, with an introduction by award-winning writer Stephanie Johnson.

At the age of five Sacha couldn’t breathe. She suffered sun stroke under the searing Sydney sun and fainted at school on a regular basis. She very nearly choked to death and drowned on separate occasions. Her older parents were there for her in spirit, but not often in actuality.

She was finally taken to the doctor who recommended ballet as a cure for her ills. It worked, but at a price. Her childhood memoir, recounting her sometimes tragic, often farcical coming of age as a ballerina of some notoriety, might equally have been called ‘Out of the frying pan into the fire’ Be careful what you wish for, especially in Australia.
