Young writers achieve more success

Two students who have taken part in the Michael King Young Writers Programme have gone on to achieve success in other writing awards. 
Sophie van Waardenberg, who won the poetry and prose sections of this years Chris Cole Catley Writing Awards, was highly-commended in this year's BNZ Writing Awards and commended in the Foyle Young Poets of the Year 2014. A Year 13 student from St Cuthbert's College, she has taken part in the Young Writers Programme over the last three years.
Amelia Kendall, a Year 12 student from St Cuthbert's College recently won the Sunday Star Times Young Writers' Award. She was a runner-up in the Chris Cole Catley Writing Awards announced last weekend at the launch of Signals, the Young Writers Programme literary journal.
