1500 1501 Michael King Writers Centre

Amber is a Sā-māo-rish (Ngāpuhi/Manase) writer of things from Tāmaki Makaurau, with a Gemini Sun / Virgo Moon. She is a poet, storyteller, Amateur Astrologer, and professional bots. In 2014, she graduated from the Manukau Institute of Technology creative writing programme and is a recent graduate of the International Institute of Modern Letters. Always vibing at a languid pace, her work has been published both in print and online including in the Māori anthology Puna Wai Korero, the Spinoff, the children’s anthologies Skinny Dip! and Annual, NZ poetry shelf, Ora nui, and Poetry New Zealand Yearbook.

She is interested in the space between languages and the deconstruction of power dynamics within language/s. Her current in-progress works attempt to explore the sound symbolism between languages and the evolution of language. During the residency, she will be working on a novel that explores grief, being a bots, and spirituality.
