Our 10th writer-in-residence for the year, Hannah is a Wellington-based writer who completed her Masters in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters in 2024. She has previously been a 2020 NZSA Youth Mentorship Award recipient, the 2021 winner of the Maurice Gee Prize in Children’s Writing, and a 2023 NZSA CompleteMS Manuscript Assessment recipient.

Her debut novel, It’s a Bit More Complicated Than That, (published by Allen & Unwin, 17 June 2025) was the winner of the Best Unpublished Author manuscript in the Storylines Tessa Duder YA Prize 2024. You can also find her work in Starling, takahē, and bad apple.

During her residency Hannah will work on the second draft of a realist novel for adults.
