Autumn Residency
1707 1708 Michael King Writers Centre

Our seventh resident for the year, Michele has been a writer, producer and dancer across the globe. Her fiction and non-fiction has been published widely across many mediums and broadcast for radio both in New Zealand and the UK.

She was New Zealand’s 2010 Robert Burns Fellow, and as a screenwriter, was most recently selected for the Attagurl Talent lab 2020/2021 in association with Toronto, Rotterdam and Sydney International Film Festivals.

Michele is working on her sixth book, a novel – an allegorical, contemporary novel of trees, dance and kidnapping. It uses a feminist re-imagining of Sleeping Beauty and a family’s struggle with a child in a coma to investigate western society’s rejection of the innate inter-connectivity of nature.
