Emerging Writers Residency
1676 1676 Michael King Writers Centre

We have welcomed Rose as our first writer in residence for the New Year.  Rose says her aim as a writer ‘is to produce books that readers can’t put down’. Her first novel, a contemporary thriller about a jealous identical twin, is set in Australia, Thailand and the Seychelles. Entitled The Girl in the Mirror, it will be published by Allen & Unwin in New Zealand and Australia in 2020. Rose will use her time at the Michael King Writers Centre to finish editing this manuscript.

Rose began writing in 2017 and completed the University of Auckland’s Masters in Creative Writing that same year, graduating with first class honours. She was awarded a New Zealand Society of Authors mentorship in 2018, with the support of Creative New Zealand.

Rose is a law lecturer and a keen offshore sailor. She lives in Auckland with her three children and is working on her second novel.
