Anna is an award winning journalist, writer and critic. She writes regularly for Newsroom, Metro Magazine, The Listener and The Guardian, among other outlets, and she is a book critic for RNZ. In 2022 she was named runner up best reviewer in the 2022 Voyager Media Awards.

Whilst on her residency Anna worked on ten non-fiction stories. These included profiles of figures of some significance, reportage on living and working in LA amongst the poor and the homeless, essays that cover abuse, violence, desire, morality, loss and death, class, feminism, love, film, socio-cultural phenomena, sub and counter-cultural movements, social and people’s movements.

In 2024 Anna received a Fulbright Award to complete an MA in Political Journalism at Columbia University. In 2025 she was awarded a Vince Geddes In-Depth Journalism Fund through The Spinoff. She produced several published essays during her time at the centre, some of which will inform a forthcoming essay collection.
